Nintendo Switch deals FAQ

Is the Nintendo Switch ever on sale?
Yes, the Nintendo Switch does go on sale, but discounts on the console are typically modest compared to other gaming platforms. Sales usually happen during major shopping events like Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Prime Day, and seasonal promotions. Retailers like Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart, and Target sometimes offer bundles that include games or accessories at no extra cost, which can add value even if the console’s price isn’t deeply discounted.
While the standard Switch and Switch OLED rarely see large price drops, the Switch Lite is often available at a slightly lower price. Look for special promotions and bundles for the best Nintendo Switch deals.
Is now a good time to buy a Nintendo Switch?
Whether now is a good time to buy a Nintendo Switch is up to you. Remember: the Nintendo Switch 2 is coming soon. If you plan on buying Nintendo’s next console when it launches, it’s better to wait. However, at $450, the Switch 2 will be considerably more expensive than the Switch. If you’re not planning to get a Switch 2 at launch, then now is still a good time to buy the original Switch.
Many gamers wait a few years to buy a new console rather than right at launch. This allows some time for the game library to develop and for the console manufacturer to work out any kinks in the new hardware. And even if you do plan to buy the Switch 2, the Switch Lite is still very much worth buying as a portable “companion system” to the newer console. That’s especially true when you consider that the Switch 2 is considerably larger than the original Switch.
Furthermore, with the Switch 2 arriving this year, there are likely to be some pretty juicy Nintendo Switch console deals coming down the line. If you’re not planning to buy the Switch 2 at launch and can find a new Switch for a reasonable price, jump on it. The Switch has built up a vast library of games, so you have plenty of content to enjoy.
When is the Nintendo Switch 2 coming?
After a long wait and lots of speculation, we recently learned that Nintendo’s next console launches on June 5, 2025. Nintendo originally stated that they will announce something before April 2025 and officially revealed the Switch 2 in February. Switch 2 pre-orders went live at a few retailers and are already sold out! Despite its higher price, we expect the new console to be a very hot commodity this year.
